War Games

SPOILER ALERT:  I am at 63% in book 3 in The Hunger Games series.

OK - so I've calmed down a bit from last night.  I am happier with Katniss today than I was yesterday.  She and Johanna (whose name I can never remember but who is one of my favorite characters; she's so Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted) are training like mad dogs in hope of being allowed to go to war with Gale et al.  Katniss is hell bent on killing Snow (who wouldn't be) but she should have thought of that before she decided to lay around and eat cheese doodles for weeks on end.  OK kidding...but apparently she's out of shape from all those concussions and gunshot wounds and whatnot...and they only want strong folk storming the Bastille.  Like that hottie, Gale.  Mmm hmm.  He can storm my Bastille any time.  (LOL that joke was pure cheese.)

Moving on...  The scene with Peeta being a rudedog in the lunch room was nothing short of bizarre.  That poor soul.  We all know how I love guys with mental problems that one can dissect and reflect on...so it's no wonder I love Peeta so much.  I'd be spending a ton of time in that room (as long as he's restrained, y'all)...just telling him all kinds of things about his childhood that I know.  Not that Katniss necessarily listened to him when he talked about his childhood; she was busy telling him stories of herself and Prim tiptoe-ing through the non-existant tulips before he poor father died and they went from eating Spam to Saint Bernards.  And when he got antsy and wanted to jam a pen into my aorta (another Girl, Interrupted reference) I'd have said "No worries, bud...do your thing and get out all the sillies.  I'll wait."

Prediction:  Cinna's not dead and Katniss is going to end up with him.  He's already seen her naked, right?

OK - time to read again.  Tracey will lose it if I don't finish this book soon.

That scene with Peeta in the lunch room broke my heart. What did they do to him?? :-(

Now that would have been fun following your posts while reading this series back in the day...

Carol, what on earth took you so long to read this series?

Well, I finished the book today and wow. I liked it, I know I did, but it was a hard, hard read. And I'm not so sure it's not going to give me some bad dreams, or flashbacks to some very bad times I don't like to think about specifically very often.

I am still figuring some things out, trying to piece them together in my head but maybe that needs to be more interactive.
